Wartburg: Time for Upgrades

Wartburg Theatre, built in 1962, is the home of Carthage Theatre and Dance. The Wartburg stage hosts plays, musicals, and dance concerts each year, giving our students opportunities to express themselves as creative artists. We need to make upgrades in order to keep pace with current trends and giving our students great pre-professional training.

Color us impressed!

In the old days, colored plastic gel sheets were placed in lights to change the color. But that meant the light couldn't change during the show, which meant you needed more lights to do more looks.

The new generation of LED lights features onboard color changing: every light on the stage can be instantly changed from Midnight Blue to Carthage Crimson, or thousands of colors in between! This means student designers have an infinite palette of choices to really make their work shine–and they are learning the industry standard in light programming.

LEDs can light up our lives!

The Wartburg Theatre still has its original set of electrical circuits: they limit what we can do because we can only use so much power! This means "black holes" on stage because we can't use enough lights for good coverage and artistic expression.

But with efficient LED lights that don't rely on the old circuit system, those problems go away. LED lights only use a tenth of the power but are many times brighter!

Students must learn controllighting control!

Our students need to learn how to design lighting and program lighting cues into a light board. Our ETC Element light board is on its last legs. Updates are no longer available for this board. With your help, we can update our system to a state-of-the-art light board to operate these efficient new LED lights!
